This dataset contains 24 image file data: (1) MSWCI data for days 97, 113, 129, 145, 161, 177, 193, 209, 225, 241, and 257 in 2000; (2) MSWCI data for days 97, 113, 129, 145, 161, 177, 193, 209, 225, 241, 257 of 2010; (3) 2000MSWCI_Clip, which is the average surface water content data from April to September of the 2000 growing season; (4) The 2010 MSWCI _Clip is the average surface water content data from April to September of the 2010 growing season. These data reflect the temporal variation and spatial distribution characteristics of surface water content in Central Asia, and reflect the degree of vegetation water deficit, which can be used for drought monitoring. The data is to use the reflectivity values of the 6th and 7th bands of the MODIS data to obtain SWCI, and the L parameter is added to correct SWCI to obtain the modified surface water content index MSWCI. The revised MSWCI was used to reflect the surface water content of Central Asia every eight days from April 1 to September 31, 2010, respectively, and then calculate the average water content of the region during these two periods.

Main data sources: 1. Mod09a1 data on the 97th, 113, 129, 145, 161, 177, 193, 209, 225, 241, 257 days in 2000; 2. Mod09a1 data on the 97th, 113, 129, 145, 161, 177, 193, 209, 225, 241, 257 days in 2010
The corresponding MODIS product is used to convert it into the actual surface water content, that is, the surface water content of the designated date is obtained first, and then the average surface water content of the designated time period in the area is obtained.
The acquired data can only be used after sorting and calculation processing. The meteorological observation data and MODIS data in the study area shall be sorted and calculated, including blank data, missing data and quality defects. The problematic data shall be analyzed and processed according to the situation to obtain high-precision data.
